Google Photos is a great place for users to fine-tune pictures on a smartphone. Google is using built-in intelligence to facilitate the search and search of text in pictures taken on a phone. If you give the Google search app the option to search the phrase in the search bar, Google Photos will show you images that fall into that phrase.
Whats is Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
You can copy the text in the image by the Lens button and save it as a document. Google uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Google tweeted that it will be available on all Android and iOS phones, which is currently only available on some Android devices.
By Utilizing the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tech found in Google Lens, you can now search for text from within Google Photos. Once it finds any images that contain that text, you’re able to use Lens to select and copy it in order to paste it elsewhere.
As mentioned in the tweet, the feature is rolling out “starting this month”, and in the TechRadar office, both Android and web users found that they had received the feature – although its success varied across different devices – and there was no sign of it on iOS.
Although we’ll need to hear more from Google directly to confirm how this feature fully operates.
